logo
Jazzy Bagels is a bagel and coffee shop located in Gresham Oregon. It is all about the ambience of delightful tasting breakfast foods while enjoying live soulful music all at the same time. The goal here in my process of recreating this logo was to first make the logo keeping in mind the actual name of the restaruant, and what they serve there, combined with the actual meaning of the name of the resteraunt itself. So I created this logo and then transformed it into something upbeat, fun, and musical. Designing a simple treble clef in somewhat of a lyrical way with a splash of a vibrant color really brought up the resolution of this logo. Combing it with playful bold type helped to bring this brand to life.
Through out this brand I decided to use a playful pattern I created just to make this brand up beat, more like what the name of the brand is itself. I created this pattern by doing some gestural mini paintings of jazz instruments and converting them into vector images. I then took these images and turned it into a pattern swatch that I made apart of the brand.
Pattern
As the main swatch color for this brand, I chose to go with a golden swatch color but lightened it in order to give you a settle calm feel like the one you get from listening to jazz music. Also that pleasant pastel yellow, ochre color is similar to that of bagels and other breaded pastries, like the ones sold at this cafe. As a secondary color I chose a burnt brown, that similar to coffee beans which helps with the advertisement of coffee and bagels. Last but not least the musical instrument pattern to add a little shazaz to spice the overall brand up!
Swatches and Type Faces
Type Facces
The House Slant typeface is used as the main type used for the creation of the logo due to its jazzy typographic attributes.
Avenir is used as my secondary main typeface for the headers on products included in this brand.
Source Sans Variable-light is used for my body text.
Letter Head
Coffe bags
Choosing to play with the patterns only as an accent color, is what makes this brand design work. The main color in my design is always that burnt sienna brown color, which is similar to that of a coffee bean. Taking that color and overlaying hints of the pattern in a bright color is what completes my system. I decided to continuously do this method through out the entire brand, alternating it with that mellow yellow and putting the sienna brown pattern on top.
Work Attire
The people working at the front of the houses uniform is just as important as the people working in the back of the restaurant. You can still see the workers through the opening in the back, so its fun to see that they to can have a snazzy uniform just like the ambience of this brand.
packaging
Just like the food at the Jazzy Bagels Cafe, the packaging has the ability to be just as upbeat as the first bite you take into that delicious bagel!
